A tragic accident shook the small community near Arcadia, Missouri, Tuesday afternoon. A three-vehicle collision on Missouri Highway 72 left one man dead and raised questions about road safety on this busy stretch of highway. Let’s look at the details and key takeaways from this unfortunate event.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:53 p.m., about three miles east of Arcadia. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the chain of events began when a 2017 GMC driven by a 64-year-old Ironton man veered across the centerline. This sudden movement caused a sideswipe with a 2013 Ford F-150 traveling in the opposite direction. Moments later, the GMC had a violent head-on collision with a 2024 Ram truck.
Emergency responders and crash investigators swiftly arrived at the scene. However, the driver of the GMC, unfortunately, died on impact. The Iron County Coroner later confirmed his death at the site as reported here.
While this crash resulted in a fatality, the two other drivers involved walked away from the scene with relatively minor issues.
- The driver of the Ford F-150, a 62-year-old man from Belleview, was lucky to escape without any injuries. He was even able to drive away from the crash site.
- Meanwhile, the driver of the 2024 Ram, a 34-year-old man from Sedgewickville, sustained damage to his vehicle. His truck was eventually towed.
